A community of pet lovers. For our very first Shelter Shoutout, we head to Grand Rapids, Michigan to visit the amazing people at the Humane Society of West Michigan and the animals in their care. This beacon of hope and compassion has been helping pets in need since 1883 and, today, rescues 2,500 – 3,000 dogs, cats and other animals every year.
With over 300 active community volunteers and support from Pet Supplies Plus and Hill's Science Diet, this unique facility provides much-needed care, attention and love to pets awaiting adoption. The shelter not only provides nutrition, exercise and housing, but also features a behavioral expert who helps train animals to manage their stress, positioning them for success in their forever homes. |
