It's about Kaia, and her incredible journey toward finding the perfect family. Kaia was lying on the road in Mississippi when a good Samaritan picked her up and took her to a local veterinarian. The doctor found that Kaia was not only extremely ill but she also suffered severe injuries to both eyes that required immediate medical attention. Before Kaia could receive the critical eye surgery she needed, the medical staff first had to nurse Kaia back to health. The veterinarian successfully performed the eye surgery as soon as Kaia was healthy enough to receive it, giving Kaia the best chance at a healthy future. What happened next is only possible thanks to donors like you. A volunteer of Athens Animal Rescue, a PetSmart Charities® partner based in Texas, happened to be visiting family in Mississippi and heard about sweet Kaia's story.That's when Kaia's journey truly began. Athens Animal Rescue began working with their network of partners and organized a transport effort from Mississippi to Texas, then Texas to Arizona, to help give Kaia the best chance at finding a loving home. And did she ever! Once in Arizona, under the care of our partners at the Arizona Animal Welfare League, Kaia was brought to an adoption event at our corporate headquarters in Phoenix! Though Kaia had many admirers, one of our stellar PetSmart associates, Kelly, felt an immediate connection with the loving pup and adopted Kaia on the spot. Today, Kaia is frequently seen at the office and attending meetings in our pet-friendly workplace alongside her new mom. Your gift today will help millions more just like Kaia find people to love.
